Dr. Patel received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from Baroda Medical College. He completed his internship and worked at Gujarati Heart Hospital in India. After emigrating to the United States in 1993, Dr. Patel completed his Doctor of Medicine degree in Nephrology and renal fellowship at Metropolitan Hospital Center in New York City, and his residency and Doctor of Medicine degree in Internal Medicine at Jersey City Medical Center. 

Prior to joining MFHN, Dr. Patel worked in a variety of roles and medical settings, including Medical Director for Jet Airways Airline; Attending Physician and Consultant/Nephrologist at Bronx Lebanon Special Care Center; Assistant Professor at New York Medical College; Chairman, Department of Medicine, Christ Hospital; President, Medical-Dental Staff at CarePoint Health; and Medical Director at Alaris Health at Harbor View. 

Dr. Patel is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology (AIDS specialist).
